Dr. Glen Pyle

Physiologist

Dr. Glen Pyle is one of IMPART associate members and he is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph, and is also a member of the Biophysics Interdepartmental Group.

Dr. Pyle received his BSc in Human Kinetics from the University of Guelph and a PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center. He completed an American Heart Association Post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago before joining the University of Guelph.

Dr. Pyle’s laboratory investigates sex differences in heart disease, with a particular focus on changes that occur in women during and after menopause. His group is also interested in the therapeutic potential of targeting the protein CapZ to protect against heart attacks, and has developed novel therapeutic compounds in collaboration with groups at Bar-Ilan University and Stanford University.
