Dr. Brittany Edgett

Physiologist

Dr. Brittany Edgett is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary and a member of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute.

After receiving her BSc in Human Kinetics from Saint Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Dr. Edgett obtained her MSc and PhD in exercise physiology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship jointly at the University of Guelph in the Department of Human Health and Nutritional Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University.

Dr. Edgett is interested in sex differences and the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying exercise intolerance and metabolic adaptations to exercise. Her lab uses a variety of techniques in physiology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and histology using an animal-to-human research approach to study the interplay between various organ systems that regulate cardiometabolic health and how this differs in men and women.
